Summer's End

It's hard to believe how fast summer flew by! I remember thinking how much time I had left to do all the summery things I wanted to do back in June. Now my time is almost up. I have two days left - tomorrow I'll be working and packing, and the next day I'll be moving all my stuff to my housing for this year. This end-of-summer is bittersweet because I am going to miss lazing around on my days off, but I'm also more and more excited about my second year of university! I can't wait to get back to learning about the things I love and being able to live with and see all my friends again! Yesterday, my parents noticed that the local farm has harvested their pumpkins a little early this year, so I went out to grab a couple of (hopefully) iStock worthy shots.

Goodbye, Paul!

The summer has been going by so fast! Shortly I will no longer be blogging from home, but from my townhouse near my university campus. A little information about my schooling - I go to university for a joint university-college Art and Art History program. I will be going into my second year this fall and I am so excited! I will be taking photography, drawing and sculpture, along with art history, visual culture, and my other electives.

Yesterday, Paul left to back to school (he's going to college to become a paramedic), so we spent the day together as much as we could on Thursday. I am definitely going to miss him, but I know that long distance relationships can work. :)

Friends and Photography

Last night I was able to get together with a good friend of mine and make a new friend too! It was really nice to finally see her because our summers got really busy all of a sudden and we live kind of far away from each other. We went out for dinner in Sauble Beach and went down to the beach to take some pictures since we are all into photography. I must say, though, we looked pretty odd because we all brought our cameras and were taking pictures like crazy! Here's a picture my good friend Taylor snapped of me and Becky:

We left the beach after the sunset to go back to Taylor's house, and all of a sudden the sky turned beautiful pinks, oranges and reds! I snapped this picture back at her gorgeous house and farm:

Kittens

Today at lunch, my mom told me we have kittens living under our shed. When we were eating dinner, one of them decided to come out and explore our backyard! We gave it some milk and I snapped a couple pictures of it. Here is my favourite:

Later, we saw this same kitten just making itself at home and sleeping on our outside furniture. It is definitely the bolder one of the two!

Falls

Last week, Paul took me out on a nice date and we stopped at this little waterfall to take some pictures. I adjusted the shutter speed to one fifth of a second and loved the effect it had on the water! Here are a couple of pictures from the night:

Sunset

While Paul and I were on our way home from the "Meet the Artists" event, we passed this gorgeous lake at the perfect time of night. I love the colours of this sunset! It is always nice to keep my camera in the car to catch moments of unexpected beauty like this!

Art Show Results

It's officially been a week since I've last blogged. Wow! Time has been going by so fast! Well, I promised an update on the art show, so I'll start with that first. The art show was definitely a success! I didn't sell much of anything, only 7 cards, but that's okay. It was nice to have the experience of getting ready for the show and to actually be in it too. My only issue was that my art (along with other students') was placed on the gym stage, where all the other artists' boards were on the floor, where the public could access easily to see their art. Whenever I was at the art show, I didn't see one single person go on the stage, but I guess that's okay, because all of the art I displayed was my favourites! I'm not sure if I'll be up for this particular art show again next year, but I definitely appreciated the experience of being in one. It was also a great weekend because I had the Friday to Monday off work, and was able to spend some quality time with the family! Here is a picture of my display of first year art on the 4 x 8 board:
